Sammie Robertson

Sammie has recently joined our administration team at EFS.
Sammie comes to us with years of industry experience; 3 years as a Financial Adviser and 8 years prior to that as a Paraplanner.
Sammie has three beautiful daughters, aged 10, 8 & 4, that certainly keep her on her toes!
An avid performer, Sammie also works for a Cabaret Group called Attori the Entertainers, who tour QLD and perform all over! She’s also the singer for Stage 5 (who are performing at the CQ Rescue Ball and Mining Dinner in the next few weeks) and recently started performing with her best friend in a musical duo call Haysie!

Kate Matheson

Kate has joined our administration, with hopes to start her business/accounting degree next year!
In her spare time, Kate is a Training Officer with TS Pioneer – Australian Navy Cadets, where she has been involved since 2008. Kate and her husband also own cattle, and are busy working on building up their own pastoral/cattle grazing company over the next few years, with dreams of buying their own property.

Jason Elbourne

Jason was born in Townsville and moved to Brisbane to attend university.  After working part-time at Toys R Us whilst completing a Management degree, he went on to become a Store Manager at stores in Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Mackay. Wanting a career change, Jason completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Financial Planning) and moved to Sydney to commence a career in the Financial Planning industry.  After starting a family, he found Sydney to busy and moved back to Mackay to enjoy the lifestyle, sunshine and time with the family.

Jason has over 10 years’ experience in the Financial Planning industry in various roles including as a Financial Planner and running an external Paraplanning business.

He enjoys a round of golf, when not driving the kids to their various sports and activities. Jason enjoys camping with the family and exploring new places.  In 2014 he bought a caravan and did a lap of Australia, whilst working remotely as a Paraplanner.

Mike Thackray

Mike is a relative newcomer to Mackay, born and bred in Melbourne. Brought up in Glen Waverley and then bayside Black Rock and Beaumaris, he attended St Leonards College in secondary school then on to tertiary education at Monash University – finishing in 1988 with an economics degree. A career in banking started with NAB in 1989 – graduate program leading to a foreign exchange dealer role over the next 13 years – highlights were getting married to Fiona in 1994, 2 ½ years living in Singapore (son Harry born there in 1996) and daughter Charlotte born in Melbourne in 1998.

The family moved to Maffra, East Gippsland which became home from 2003 to 2014 – enjoying a laid-back lifestyle, strong involvement in sport and the local community. Mike worked in banking and finance roles up until 2008, when he commenced a role as financial planner for NAB.  In 2014 the family decided that the warmer climate of Queensland appealed and Mike joined WBC in Mackay – providing financial advice to clients locally as well as west to Emerald, south to Rockhampton, north as far as Cairns.

Mike’s interests are family, wine, music, going to the gym, long walks on the beach with wife Fiona and their crazy Jack Russell terrier Zeena and being on the water – kayaking, fishing, stand up paddle boarding.

Since March 2019, Mike has been part of the EFS team and loves being part of a proactive, well respected local business that above all else always put clients first.

Mike McLeod

Mike moved from Sydney to Brisbane when he was 1 year old. He grew up in Brisbane and then moved to the Darling Downs in his early 20’s. In his mid 30’s he moved to Mackay which has  been his home ever since. He loves Mackay because it reminds him of Brisbane in the 60’s, which was a great place to grow up. It basically is a country town turning into a city so you get the best of both worlds.

Mike has been providing financial advice for over 25 years and has been a Certified Financial Planner since 2001.  He was the first FPA Chapter Chair when the local chapter was reformed in the late 90’s.

His greatest achievement has been raising 5 kids who have all grown into fine young adults. Mike enjoys bike riding, golf and try to keep fit, however he lives in a big old house and most of his spare time is spent fixing, maintaining and generally renovating the house. ( Sometimes a 2 bedroom unit on the river sounds like a great idea).

Mike says that “financial advice is incredibly important and over the years he has been able to look back and see many clients who have been able to retire in a far better position that they could ever imagined due to good advice”.

“Good financial advice is nothing more than helping people get where they want to be and frankly I can’t see myself doing anything else in the future”
